The Law Society of Upper Canada
The Law Society of Upper Canada is the self-governing body for lawyers in Ontario. To help the public, the Law Society offers public services such as the Lawyer Referral Service which matches individuals with local lawyers with the proper expertise, a directory of certified specialists and the Lawyers Fund for Client Compensation which helps clients who have lost money because of a lawyer's dishonesty. A member directory, with lawyer's contact information, is also available on-line.

An Information Guide to Assist Victims
This booklet provides information about the legal entitlements of victims of crime, the resulting obligations of both the Correctional Service of Canada and the National Parole Board, and explains how victims can provide information to, or receive information from, the Board or the Service. General information about an offender's path through the correctional system after the court has sentenced them is also provided in order to enable victims and the general public to understand and anticipate the usual steps that occur.

Sponsor your family
Canadian citizens and permanent residents living in Canada, 18 years of age or older, may sponsor close relatives or family members who want to become permanent residents of Canada. Sponsors must promise to support the relative or family member and accompanying family members for a period of three to 10 years to help them settle in Canada.
